Málaga CF has completed the first medical assessments at Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga, with eight players already cleared and ready to train on July 13.
Which players have passed the exam?
On Thursday Ochoa, Dani Sánchez, Dani Lorenzo, Rafa Rodríguez and Puga were cleared. On Friday Haitam, "Chupete", Larrubia, Joaquín and Izan Merino joined them. The rest of the squad will continue the tests from Monday and finish on Wednesday with a full blood work analysis.
What does the medical evaluation include?
The examinations cover clinical anamnesis, physical examination, resting electrocardiogram, echocardiography and an ergospirometry with gas analysis. A DEXA scan also measures muscle, fat and bone mass, giving a detailed picture of each player's body composition.
Who is overseeing the process?
Doctor Pablo Campos, head of the club's medical services, leads the operation together with cardiologist Enrique Puche and radiologists Ernesto Rivera and Carlos Alonso from Hospital Quirónsalud. Physical trainer Julio Rodríguez works closely with the team to monitor the results.
Why is this assessment crucial?
Cardiologist Enrique Puche explains that pre‑participation screening helps prevent cardiovascular events and ensures every player starts the season with the highest health guarantee. Radiology specialist Ernesto Rivera notes that DEXA data enables informed decisions from day one of training, optimizing load and recovery.
What comes next for the squad?
From Monday, the remaining players will attend the hospital. The full assessment phase is expected to finish on Wednesday, giving the coaching staff precise data to plan workload and reduce injury risk during the Segunda División preseason.
