Málaga CF announced on Wednesday the renewal of Einar Galilea and confirmed that 14 players who rose from Primera RFEF in 2024 already have contracts for the upcoming LaLiga season. The list includes Alfonso Herrero, Carlos López, Murillo, Moussa, Carlos Puga, Dani Sánchez, Ramón, Dani Lorenzo, Juanpe, Izan Merino, Aaron Ochoa, David Larrubia and Haitam, all set to debut in LaLiga EA Sports.
Which players signed and until when?
The club disclosed that Galilea signed an extension until 2027, joining the already renewed Herrero, Puga, Sánchez and Juanpe, whose deals were sealed in 2023. Each contract was signed between June and July 2026, guaranteeing their stay for the 2026/27 campaign. Galilea’s renewal, at 32 years old, marks his fourth season wearing the blue‑white shirt.
Why does this block of contracts matter?
Keeping the 14 promoted players strengthens Loren Juarros’ vision of a stable project. With 23 squad spots already filled, the club plans to add four to six new signings, but without dismantling the backbone that achieved two promotions in three years. Continuity lets manager Sergio Pellicer work with players already familiar with the club’s philosophy and playing style.
What role did academy graduates play?
Dani Lorenzo and David Larrubia, products of the academy, were pivotal in leading the generation that returned to the top tier. Murillo and Izan Merino, once considered surplus in 2024, are now regular starters. Ramón, who suffered a serious knee injury, returned to action in Almería and celebrates his promotion wearing shorts, something he missed in Tarragona.
Who might be loaned out?
Although all signatories are eligible for the first team, the sporting director is weighing the option of loaning out players who did not log significant minutes in Segunda División. Moussa and Haitam appear as likely candidates for a loan that would give them regular experience before fighting for a spot in the main squad again.
What’s next for Málaga CF?
With the roster largely set, the club is gearing up for pre‑season training at the Metropolitano and La Rosaleda. The aim is to cement the playing style before LaLiga’s official kickoff in August. The continuity of the 14 promoted players will be a decisive factor in competing at the highest level and avoiding a drop back to the second tier.
