Málaga CF bolster their left-back position with José Salinas

Málaga CF are on the verge of completing the loan signing of José Salinas, left-back for Espanyol, who will join La Rosaleda on loan to strengthen the left flank. According to journalist Ángel García, the club is finalizing the last details of a move that will reinforce their squad as they push for a return to LaLiga.

The 25-year-old from Alicante had attracted interest from teams like Elche and Racing de Santander, but all signs point to him wearing the Málaga CF shirt in the coming days. Only the final administrative steps remain to formalize his arrival at the Martiricos stadium.

An offensive-minded left-back

José Salinas is a left-back with a strong offensive profile, capable of joining the attack and creating constant danger down the left flank. His ability to provide width, reach the byline, and deliver dangerous crosses has made him one of the most valued full-backs in Spanish football in recent seasons.

Developed in the Elche youth academy after stints at Kelme CF, Salinas broke out during loan spells at Unionistas de Salamanca and, especially, at Mirandés, where he established himself as one of the best players in his position in Segunda División. That performance earned him a return to Elche, where he played a key role in their promotion to LaLiga.

After his contract with Elche expired, Espanyol signed him on a free transfer, though he struggled to break into the Perico side and managed just 13 official appearances last season. That lack of minutes opened the door for his exit, an opportunity Málaga has seized to bring in a left-back with strong potential.

What will Salinas bring to Málaga CF?

Salinas excels at joining the attack, providing width down the flank, and creating danger with his crosses. His ability to maintain high energy levels throughout 90 minutes and his good decision-making in the opponent’s half make him a very complete full-back when his team has the ball.

However, his offensive drive can leave spaces behind him, an area he will need to refine to perform at his best in LaLiga. Málaga is looking to strengthen its left flank, a position the club’s sporting management considers a priority for the new season.

With over 100 appearances in Segunda División and 13 in LaLiga, Salinas arrives at Málaga with proven experience. His profile fits the needs of the Blanquiazul side, which is aiming to return to Spain’s top flight after their relegation in 2023.
