Málaga CF has confirmed framework agreements this week with El Palo FC and Mijas Las Lagunas to integrate them into its youth academy network, pending only formal signature in the coming days. Carlos Dávila, head of La Academia, stated on Radio MARCA Málaga that approval has been granted and only the paperwork signature remains.

This expansion is part of the youth project driven by sporting director Loren Juarros since his arrival at La Rosaleda. It is a discreet but significant step to widen the network of affiliated clubs, a structure that just this week demonstrated its strength with the official presentation of La Academia's teams. Both additions bolster a system focused on identifying and developing local talent.

The historical weight of El Palo

The inclusion of El Palo FC is particularly notable due to its tradition as a talent source. The neighbourhood has been the birthplace or training ground for at least thirteen players who reached the First or Second Division, spanning multiple generations. Among them are names like Juan Galacho, Manolito Rodríguez, the Pérez Frías brothers, Basti, Francis Bravo, Carlos Aranda, Manolo Gaspar, Recio, Francisco Portillo, Alberto Escassi and Rafa de Vicente. The agreement, connecting two clubs just kilometres apart, enhances one of Málaga CF's great youth football traditions.

Mijas Las Lagunas' current moment

Meanwhile, Mijas Las Lagunas is experiencing a historic moment after debuting this season in Group IV of the Segunda RFEF. The team recently secured its first victory in the category, an emphatic 6-2 win over Tamaraceite, adding further appeal to its integration into the blanquiazul network.

While these two deals are finalised, CD Tiro Pichón maintains its interest in joining the Framework Agreement, though its incorporation is not yet complete. Dávila acknowledged the good existing relationship with the club from the capital. This youth network expansion comes as the first team, currently 20th in La Liga with just three points from seven games, searches for stability. The next fixture is against Espanyol at La Rosaleda, a key match in a tough schedule. Fans can track the progress of the entire squad on our site.
