First point of the season

Málaga CF earned its first point of the season in the home debut against Deportivo. The Funes side started behind but managed to level the score before halftime thanks to a penalty goal by Chupe, awarded after Rafita's provocation.

Assessment of the starters

  • Alfonso Herrero (6) - Could have done more on the opponent's goal. He was not very decisive, then made a good stop.
  • Puga (7) - Tireless on the flank. He was at a good level in defense and showed himself in attack, missing the final pass.
  • Recio (7) - Another good game from the youth player. Concentrated, good in duels and didn’t get tangled with the ball.
  • Galilea (5) - From less to more. He suffered a lot in speed against Aubameyang, improved in the second half.
  • Rafita (9) - Decisive. He caused the 1-1 penalty in a great action, was also very good when he had to re-arm.
  • Izan Merino (6) - Improved as the game progressed, grew with the ball in the second half, tried from distance without success.
  • Dani Lorenzo (8) - He did almost everything well, always improved the play when it passed through him, key in the attack.
  • Dotor (6) - Ran and opened spaces tirelessly in the first half, more tired in the second, good.
  • Juan Cruz (6) - Very active in the first half, offering solutions from inside, substituted by Larrubia.
  • Joaquín (6) - Much energy on the flank, tried in all ways but didn’t have his day near the area.
  • Chupe (8) - Took responsibility for the penalty and didn’t miss, almost scored the second, missed the crossbar.

Substitutes

  • Rafa Rodríguez (5) - Physical power, tried a couple of times with powerful shots, contributed in the final stretch.
  • Larrubia (7) - Came on with a lot of energy, caused problems on the flank and lifted the crowd, no success in the final meters.
  • Haitam (7) - Fast, electric, in top form, showed a lot in a few minutes, almost scored from a free kick.
  • Ramón (SC) - No time for much, tried to pause the game in the final minutes, lost a dangerous ball.
  • Lobete (SC) - Had little time, tried a drive and the opponent took it with him, played in interior positions.

The match ended 1-1, with Málaga’s goal coming from Chupe’s penalty.
