Referee Javier Alberola Rojas will return to officiate Málaga CF against Deportivo La Coruña on Monday 13 August at 21:30. This will be his first match with the club since 18 December 2017, when he refereed the 0-2 loss to Betis at La Rosaleda.

On 13 August Málaga returns to La Liga and La Rosaleda regains its top-flight status. Alberola Rojas, a Castilian-Manchego referee, will oversee the club’s first home match after their return.

On 18 December 2017, in matchday 16 of the 2017/18 season, Betis beat Málaga 0-2 with goals from Sergio León (24') and Camarasa (50'). Alberola Rojas was the referee, and the game ended with five cards: four yellows and one sending-off, leaving Málaga with ten players.
