Málaga CF earned a valuable point on the road with a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo at Balaídos on Saturday. The Andalusian side fought back in the second half with a header from Adrián Niño to cancel out Ferran Jutglà's opener.
The second-half response
The match started with local dominance and Celta took the lead in the 41st minute. Ferran Jutglà finished off a move assisted by Hugo González. Málaga, however, did not surrender and pressed harder for an equaliser after the break. Their persistence paid off in the 83rd minute, when Adrián Niño met a precise cross from Pablo Martínez following a corner to head home.
Late chances
The game remained tight until the final whistle, with chances for both sides in added time. The referee indicated five minutes of stoppage time, a period in which Iago Aspas came close to winning it for the sky-blues with a shot that brushed the crossbar. For Málaga, Chupe also had a clear headed opportunity that went just wide, again assisted by Pablo Martínez.
This result leaves Málaga with a run of three draws in their last five matches, a sequence reading DDLDL. The team now faces a long break before their next LaLiga fixture, a home game against Athletic Club at La Rosaleda on November 29th.
