Málaga CF showed its complete youth academy structure this week. La Academia MCF presented all its teams for the 2026/27 season, from Atlético Malagueño down to the youngest age groups, and integrated a new youth team into its setup. The event, held at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF, brought together the club's entire youth football community and ended with the traditional group photo on the pitch of the Estadio Abdallah Ben Barek.

Carlos Dávila, the academy director, outlined the core message they deliver to prospective families. "I always say this to those interested in coming to Málaga CF." he said. Dávila noted that young players are aware of this, seeing examples of individuals who progress through the youth categories to Atlético Malagueño and then to the first team.

A gathering of the whole family

The presentation was attended by key club figures including judicial administrator José María Muñoz, general director Kike Pérez and sporting director Loren Juarros, who addressed the attendees. Ambassador Jesús Gámez, emblematic figure Ben Barek, and first-team coach Juanfran Funes with members of his technical staff were also present. Homegrown players like captain Ramón, Ángel Recio and Carlos López shared the moment with parents and relatives filling the stadium stands. Host Basti and mascot 'Súper Boke' livened up a day that symbolises the club's present and future, built on enthusiasm, hard work and a sense of belonging.

This display of youth development aims to be a beacon of hope as the first team struggles in La Liga. Málaga CF currently sit 20th, with just 3 points from seven games and a run of five matches without a win. Their recent form is a concern, averaging only 0.43 points per game this season. The team has also struggled to score, averaging just 0.71 goal minutes per match. The next fixture is at home to Espanyol on 9 October, a key match to try and stop the slide. Fans can check the full season schedule on our fixtures page and the state of the professional squad on squad. The club is counting on the academy's work, which maintains its commitment to both men's and women's football, to be the foundation for a medium-term recovery.
