La Liga has set the schedule for the tenth matchday, confirming Málaga CF will travel to Mendizorroza to face Deportivo Alavés on Friday 23 October at 21:00. It will be the second Friday night fixture for the blanquiazules within a span of three matchdays, a schedule that complicates travel for the Málaga CF supporters.
The match marks a return to a stadium with bitter memories for the club. It was on that same pitch where, in May 2023, Málaga CF lost their Segunda División status. Now, back in the top flight, Juanfran Funes's team will seek a different outcome in Vitoria.
Confirmed schedule
The confirmation of the timings for matchday 10 comes after the governing body released the full programming. For Málaga CF, the run of home games at La Rosaleda will end with that trip north. Before that, the team will play at home on Friday 9 October at 21:00 against Espanyol, and on Sunday 18 October at 18:30 against Real Sociedad. The Sunday slot is the only recent exception that makes it easier for fans to attend.
The full season schedule, with all opponents and dates, is available on our fixtures page. Supporters can plan their attendance for the team's upcoming commitments as they look to consolidate their position in the standings table.
Manager Juanfran Funes and his squad will have to adapt their preparation to this rhythm of matches on unusual days. Concentration and managing recovery time will be key in a segment of the championship with changing kick-off times. The team approaches this period with the ambition of picking up points away from home, starting with the difficult Mendizorroza venue.
The match against Quique Sánchez Flores's Alavés is scheduled for 23 October, capping a week of specific training for the duel in Vitoria.
