Málaga CF is preparing for the final stretch of the transfer market with clear priorities. The sports management understands that the squad needs to improve its competitive level, especially in the defensive area. The entity is working with three priority positions: left-back, center-back and midfielder.
Which positions are priorities?
The departure of Dani Sánchez has left a clear need on the left side. José Salinas is the only natural left-back remaining in the squad, so the incorporation of a player for that position appears among the priorities. The situation was already one of the issues that was giving the most work to the sports management and now it acquires even more weight.
How will the problem be solved?
The internal alternative is Rafita, the right-back who played for most of last season on the left side. It is, therefore, a solution that the coach already knows and that allows Málaga to face the position with some calm while searching for a specific reinforcement.
What other problems is Málaga CF facing?
The center-back is another priority position. The injury to Fernando Calero has highlighted a need that the club already contemplated, with Diego Murillo still recovering and Álex Pastor returning progressively from his injury. Málaga needs to incorporate players to increase the guarantees of a defense that will face a very high level of demand in First Division.
What comes next?
The economic capacity is not now the main obstacle. The brake is in the releases. Málaga needs to find a place for those players who do not have guaranteed minutes to be able to free up space in a squad that still has several pending situations to resolve. The own José María Muñoz has confirmed that the club is working on more incorporations and that even there is room to pay some transfer, although for now no firm offers have been received for the players who are on the ramp of exit.
